Setting up an At-Home Bar

Domino Magazine
A fabulous home bar is one of those things that I always love the look of in magazines, but have yet to implement in my own home. They totally elevate the look of a room, and are so convenient for entertaining. God knows, I've had cheap little soirees from time to time where I'm scrambling to find the wine opener, more glasses, mixers, garnishes, etc. etc. It would be so glam to just kick back in my marabou mules, knowing that everything was set out for my guests to enjoy!

Gorgeously understated bureau-top bar

Fabulous use of an antique armoire
I love literally everything about this!
I think that what would work best in our home is a small-ish bar station with at least one shelf underneath (for shakers, a champagne bucket, etc.). I also want to find one without wheels - lord knows the LAST thing I need is ol' Clementine getting sassy and rolling my drinks cart down the stairs - babygirl loves to party!
Loving this corner set-up!

Half the battle is knowing what we'd choose to stock the bar - luckily, Ben and I are seasoned boozehounds with a list of all of our must-have libations at the ready!
Casa Noble Reposado, Kings County Distillery Bourbon Whiskey, Hendrick's Gin,
Glenlivet Scotch, Smith & Cross Rum, Pimm's No. 1, Tito's Vodka
We're also lucky enough to have some great bar essentials already - a lovely monogrammed pitcher and cocktail shaker from our wedding registry, and a vintage French champagne bucket that I picked up in Columbus right after our wedding!

As far as the actual bar goes, I have been poking around Craigslist and a few online stores, looking for the perfect piece.

How about you guys? I know that some of you out there must have amazing home bars - I'd love to see a picture, shoot me an email at TartanandSequins@gmail.com! :)

  1. Love this post! I'm going to do a similar one soon... We're attempting to do this in our condo right now. Moving-in is still a work-in-progress though, haha! I love the cart with wheels :)

  3. Loving this post!! We just bought the Ikea sideboard for precisely this purpose and I'm working to get fully stocked and take a pic! We're hoping to turn the middle section into a wine rack too for double boozy duty! You girls also find the best stuff!!
