How We Style It - Skinny Belts

We may have an obsession on our hands folks!
As you can see, we here at Tartan & Sequins loooooove ourselves a good skinny belt. Endlessly chic and perpetually flattering, the skinny belt is a great versatile accessory. How you wear it depends on both your body type and what you want to pair it with. So for this week's How We Style It, we'll be showing you how each of us rock the skinny belt.

For me, I have a pretty athletic (read: boyish) body so I don't have a really defined waist. As such, I generally can't pull of the belt-around-the-waist look (with the exception of the photo above of course, I'm not sure how that happened). But for someone like Allison, its super-flattering. The look I go with more frequently is wearing the skinny belt on my hips. Its a nice accent which allows me to rock the hell out of a statement necklace too.
Its totally fine Jess, we'd copy us too. Via
In terms on what pairs best with a skinny belt, is it a cop-out if I say... anything? Okay so that may not be completely true, but as a general rule, the skinny belt goes great with jeans or dresses or over cardigans or jackets. As long as you don't look like you are suffocating, you should be fine. Here are the ways we've styled our skinny belts for you today.

So we'd love to know, where do you all find your skinny belts? It looks like Allison and I both scored ours at Target and J.Crew but are there any other stores we should be checking out?

Thanks loves! Xo J&A

  1. I too find the best ones at Tar-jay and J. Crew. I got completely bamboozeled and styled by a fabby sales guy @ J Crew last night into the stripe button front dress with a yellow braided rope belt, tres cute...and I am not normally a huge wearer of skinny belts with dresses, prefer with belt loops.
