One of the things that I find most interesting about interior design is the way it evolves as people move, move in together, grow up, get pets, have kids, etc. As I'm what we call a sentimental old soul, I'm always interested in seeing how beloved pieces are re-purposed and re-styled.
Bearing that in mind, this week I thought I'd take a trip down memory lane and share photos of Barbie Beach House 1.0, or the first apartment Ben and I lived in when we got married and moved out to California in 2010, and share photos of our current home, aka Barbie Beach House 2.0, next week.
Looking back at these 2010 photos of how I decorated our first place together, I can definitely see a lot of remnants of the uber-girly Chicago Barbie City Convertible Studio I lived in pre-marriage, but I can also see how I was sorta-kinda trying to not drape everything in pink and shabby chic-ify it out the wazoo as I was living with a man for the first time.
Hope you liked the peek inside my first California home - stay tuned next week for a tour of my current pad to check out the evolution of my interior design style, and how I've styled many of the pieces you see above in new ways! Spoiler alert: I still have a pink mixer. It IS the Barbie Beach House, after all! xx
